9:00 A.M. Coffee, 9:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. Short Course
Hameetman Auditorium, Cahill Building - California Institute of Technology

This short course will review some of the tools and techniques used for detection and classification on transient signals in massive data streams in
astronomy, e.g., searches for gravitational wave sources, or transient events in synoptic sky surveys.

Speakers

  • Dr. Badri Krishnan, AEI – Gravitational Wave Data Analysis
  • Dr. Jeff Scargle, NASA Ames – New Developments in Time Series Analysis
  • Dr. Ashish Mahabal, Caltech – Automated Classification of Transients
  • Dr. Pavlos Protopapas, CfA – Machine Learning and Statistics Applications
